Painted Knifeblock

Yesterday was sort of a do nothing, spend nothing (little) day. So after a trip to the motorcycle shop in Jasper we came home and did Nothing. I decided it would be a great time to go a little Pin crazy and tried a few things, with a big fat FAIL. But then I eyed my knife block and thought "Pinterest makes me think my knife block is ugly and it needs a makeover and to be personalized (just in case anyone ever tries to take it). So I picked a color at random-gray and started painting. I wish I had picked red or blue but I chose gray to make sure I would like it painted and could live with it. Well, what I didn't realize was that this now makes my block match my kitchen a little too well. So well, I didn't see it earlier and wondered where my knife block was. Well here it is-complete with vinyl because everything needs a vinyl letter on it now.

Cricut Crazy

The whole reason I wanted a cricut was to use vinyl. So when I got my cricut for Christmas, that next week I found vinyl at Walmart. I held on to it for a few weeks and last Sunday went a little vinyl crazy.. I swear I want to vinyl everything.

My "cake/dessert stand". The circles are burner covers from the dollar store and the stands are glass candle holders from the dollar store. I have since chunked the round parts and saved the candle holders. I put contact paper on top so I could wipe it off and it was UHGLEE! So I will do over and I might use tart pans next time. Dollar store burners are kinda warped so you can't really find a center or make them glue right.

Evan's money jars-She now gets "chore money" since she is 6 and she has very expensive taste and wants everything. She has to put 1 dollar in tithing, 4 in savings and 5 in spend but she usually puts more in tithing because she said it was ok if she gave more to church. Sweet girl-I was trying to teach her tithing her 10 % but if she wants to give more she can.

Magnet Boards

These are hanging on the girls door, a little high so little brothers can't pull stuff off of them.

I have many more vinyl ideas thanks to pinterest but I am waiting on my vinyl. I hope to be able to stop by and pick some up this week.

100th day project

Tuesday is the 100th day of school celebration. About a week ago, a nice little note arrived in our binder that explained our latest project. We had to decorate an article of clothing with 100 somethings on it and wear it to school Tuesday. We also had to buy 100 pieces of candy so they can share with their friends . I brain stormed, I asked for opinions, I wanted her to have the absolute bestest 100th day something to wear. Well guess what? I had a birthday party planned this weekend and really had no idea when I was going to do it. Once we rescheduled the party, Mike and I went to Jasper and ran in the dollar store (my always favorite and current favorite store) for some craft supplies. The Jasper Dollar Tree is by far the best I have ever been in. They have everything. Things most dollar stores do not have. As I was going down each aisle in an effort to make sure I got the full effect, I found a bag of gems and on the next aisle a t-shirt. Yes a t-shirt at the dollar store. So in that moment, I decided that I would decorate her shirt with 100 gems spelling out the number 100. I am by no means pleased with the outcome. The shirt was at the dollar store for a reason-it is slighlty irregular-somewhere. I chose to believe my 100 is not centered because of that but I know it was really my own error. But for $2.00 for a shirt she will wear once out in public, this will do.

While I am on the subjects of projects-can I just say that I love kindergarten, I love her teacher, I love that everyday/every week there is a celebration but I do not love the projects. Well that is a lie, I do love the projects but I laugh at the instructions "let your child have input". Um, no thank you. Because this particular child knows EVERYTHING-she is in kindergarten after all. I also stress on these things because I want it to be perfect. So far out of the 5 projects we have had, I have done really well on at least 3 of them.

So enjoy or laugh at my attempt at bedazzling a shirt. (this really, really made wish I had a bedazzler).

HELLO 2012

Yes I know that today is the 19th day of the year and I should have actually welcomed the new year some 18 days ago but guess what -I didn't, so there. Just like every year, I do not make resolutions. I find them dumb because you won't keep them and you really should not do anything on the first day of the year, much like starting a diet on the first day of the week-you just don't do it. So this year, I have decided I will have "commitments". These are things that I will make to myself and about myself -they may involved others but since I can not control others, then I will try to "commit" myself to the best of my abilities. So here goes:

Commitment Numero Uno: I will lose those pesky lbs that I can't get rid of this pregnancy. I have started trying to eat better and find that most of my comfort foods, i.e. CHOCOLATE and COKE do not taste as good as they used to once you do get them out of your system. I can't totally give up caffiene because the head aches are just not worth it so I have resorted to Diet Coke and Crystal Lite. I have lost 5 lbs in the 3 or 4 weeks I have been trying to lose weight but I am pretty sure I am gaining it back. I just can't stay focused or something happens and I end up grabbing my trusty lunch partner Little Debbie and well that's that. But I will commit myself to lose 20 lbs by May. I may not ever wear my buckle jeans again due to hips with their own mind but I will at least be able to slide them on -comfortable.

Commitment Numero Dos: I will blog more-because you all know you want to hear more about my oh so fabulous life. =) But with that I will post pics of my projects. Still not any of the kiddos because of my paranoia but projects are ok.

Commitment Numero Tres: My friend CAR has a "commitment" that she will do at least two of her pins. Well I cook at least two of mine a week so I am going to commitment to doing at least two crafty pins or organizing pins a month-and post the pics. I have already met my quota for the month and I will post pictures later. I promise but I just can't narrow down the day.

Commitment Numero Quatro: I will read my BIBLE more and learn to apply it to my everyday life.

Commitment Numero Cinco: I will embrace the devil that resides in my bedroom-no not Mike, the treadmill. =)

Commitment Numero Sies: I will do a craft with the girls once a month. Ya'll have no idea how much this one stresses me out.

Commitment Numero Siete: I will grow an awesomely, huge garden and "grow my own chickens".

Commitment Numero Ocho: I will make Dusty go.

Like any other post I had other things to say but I was called away to rescue a Little People from the Littlest Pet Shop Tree House, cook dinner, etc. You know, everyday life. But I do make these commitments-to myself but the blog will hopefully hold me accountable. So once a month, I plan (really I do) to blog my progress of each of my commitments and maybe add more. Maybe, my 2013 commitments will be bigger than my 2012.

p.s.-please forgive my spanish-HS spanish was mucho long time ago.

Rescued from the fire list...

I have a list of things that I would "go back into the house if the house was on fire to save". One the rocking horse upstairs-that would be a two, possible three man job-that sucker is heavy. The stuff in my cedar chest-which now that I think about it should probably be relocated to a fireproof safe. My handprint tiles in the kitchen. My camera and video camera. The list goes on and on but you get the drift-sentimental things that can not be replaced. And now that I think of my very long list, I may need to put everything in one spot. Well today I added a new thing to my list-my handprint ornaments. I have other ornaments with handprints but I don't have any of the girls when they were babies, so these ornaments-the boys ornaments are very special. A couple of years ago, I found a recipe for Salt Dough Ornaments. I tried it and let Evan and I think Aiden decorate and I really loved the whole concept of it. So recently, I was pinning/searching away and found Salt Dough Handprint Ornaments. I loved it. I have wanted to do it for a few weeks but today was the only day slow enough to stop and do it and be able to do the whole thing in one day. I am not entirely happy with the girls turnout and truth be told, I was not planning on doing their's but I knew they would be upset if I didn't and only did the boys. And I will also go on record as to how much I LOVE glitter. Not only does it sparkle but it covers your mistakes. I have gone glitter crazy with crafting lately. And I really need to get new colors because green would not have been my first choice but for some reason they wanted green.

Are those little blue handprints not the cutest thing you have ever seen? Well they are to me/. =)

Dirty Laundry-take two

I am in the need to show my flaws to myself which means you have the joy of reading it. I am just in a blah mood-maybe the weather, I'm not sure, but I feel the need to make myself realize I am not perfect, I am not supermom-I am in fact flawed. * Note* I know this. I know I am not superwoman but the thing is, sometimes blogging is cathartic and heck it is cheaper than therapy and seeing things in print, getting them out of mind-clearing them out of your mind, makes things better. So....

Dirty Laundry

1.) I loathe laundry. I used to enjoy it but my laundry pile is down right depressing. I wash and I wash and I wash and rarely do I see the bottom of the basket and when I do it is like the highlight of my day and then I turn around and it is full again. I swear the laundry fairies are out to get me.

2.) I am secretly jealous of all of my friend's talents. Heck, not secretly, my friends are seriously crafty and all I can do is use a hot glue gun and sometimes I mess that up.

3.) I am jealous of my crockpot. "Minnie" as I like to call her has won over my husbands heart and belly. If I try to cook anything-major bust but if Minnie cooks it, well you would think it was a culinary genius. So I find myself cooking with Minnie more often and looking for recipes or adapting recipes for her because if I am going to buy the food, then someone needs to eat it and I am not wasting it.

4.) I hate the commerical part of the holidays and the the hustle to fit everyone in, in one month. Now please don't take offense to this if you are apart of anywhere I visit but it is true. I don't mind the get togethers but I am exhausted when it is all over with, my kids are cranky and then before you know it all of the various places you visited have all blurred together and you don't know what is what. Maybe this is why I am starting to feel blah. Usually it doesn't happen until about week two of December but I think about everything we have going on in December and it exhausts me. Not that I don't want to do it, everything we have planned I have agreed to, it's just well, I have taken to calling December the month of CHristmas Chaos. If I don't write it down and make either a mental or a written list then something will be forgotten and I get in a tizzy. I am in a tizzy just thinking about it. I for some reason think I need to be perfect.

5.) I envy working moms. They manage to keep their kids alive, work, and handle other stuff. Take one look at my house and you will realize I have lost my knack of multitasking.

6.) People don't tell you that after twins you are still in hormone overload. Sometimes I think it is worse than when I was pregnant.

7.) Sometimes when I am holding one of the boys and the other starts to cry, I forget I have two and try to console the one I am holding only to realize that baby is fine the other is the one I need to worry about.

8.) I can not be the super involved school mom that my child and myself wants me to be. I have to take what I can get and make the most of it. Just being there makes her happy but there is so much more I wish I could do. I have this image of being Super Room Mom and I do it all. The teacher needs me and she reaches over to the red super room mom phone and I appear instantly., Ok a little far fetched but I do have an image of being able to do it all, effortlessly.

So when I was thinking about all of my dirty laundry, I had a really long list but amazingly after I typed number 1, I started feeling better. I realized that my need to be perfect is my own need. No one else expects that but myself and I don't know why. Maybe I need to do this once a week.
