Last night I went to a coupon class at church taught by our new music minsters wife. She has a website which I will gladly send to you if you ask. If I knew how to link it without putting the actual website in, I would but I don't want to risk bombarding her with spam that happens when you blog. Anyway, there was a super good deal on diapers at CVS so I planned on taking the tribe out to check the diapers out. But I talked myself out of it. CVS is not a store we frequent often. In fact, I am not sure Aiden has ever been in a CVS before-Evan has when she was a baby but usually I run in and grab something. So new store=very excited little girls which =me not having a good trip. So we head to Target and K meets us. So glad she did because I would not have survived. I went in with $100 in cash with a mission of clothing four kids. Here is what I ended up with:
Boys: four onesies and two pair of shorts (5 for 20 dollars), a five pack of onesies (not on sale) and two overall outfits-marked down to 6.98 ea
Evan: one shirt (2.50), a tunic type shirt (2.50), leggings (3.50), Hello Kitty swimsuit marked down to 7.99 and a pair of 4 dollar sandals.
Aiden: two pair of shorts (3.50 ea), one shirt 3.50, a Hello Kitty swimsuit marked down to 7.99 and a pair of Fancy Nancy tennis shoes for the fall-3 dollars.
My grand total was around 90 dollars for four kids. If I averaged, and I don't think I should since not everyone got the same amount, but it would be around 22 dollars a kid. Now I know Target prices are 3.50 on kids shirts and stuff but all of this was marked down from 30-50 % off. I may search again tomorrow for some more stuff. I was pretty pleased with my purchases and the luck of the day. I may not have saved at the grocery store but I did on clothes-balances out, right?
I do plan on buckling down and getting serious about couponing. Tara explained a lot of what I already knew from a previous class but she broke it down more. She also explained the ordinary person's way to stockpile-that made a lot of sense. Organization is key. I hope in about a month, when Mike is more available and Evan starts school that I can get into it. I need more time that I usually have when I run to the store. I am usually in a rush to get back so he can either go to sleep or go to work or do whatever. Until I get really good at it, I don't need to rush-in my opinion. I will still use coupons and still try to save and look for q's everywhere I can but my dedication is going to have to wait.
