Well I did it...
...I managed to relinquish some of my control freak tendencies and get the boys out. It started Wednesday with their doctors appt. Not that I could help that but we went and there was little to no peeping or peering of the boys. Gigi handled the girls in the waiting room and I took the boys back. Both had gained a considerable amount of wait since their NICU exit which is great. They are about 4 oz apart with Lucas being the biggest but they are the same length. This was also the first time I heard this comment "you obviously are not a first time mom because you handed him off to me like it was nothing". Hmm...didn't even consider that I was handing him off to Shelly as a loss of control thing, just that I needed the extra hands. Then on to Publix for a very quick trip. I managed to be in and out in 15 mins and not lose anyone. I gave the girls grocery baskets to help carry the groceries and to give them something to do. Fabulous idea at first but then I realized they were loading up what they wanted and this was a budgeted trip so I had to clean their baskets out before we got in line. And I am convinced that there was a woman that wanted to snatch my babies-yes I am paranoid. Next up, Saturday-this was what I was really struggling with. Our church had an Easter Egg hunt and I thought one of us would take the girls and the other would stay home. Um no. We ended up all going for some reason I have not been clued in on. So this broke the ice a little but the big thing was the Easter Drama at church. I had been preparing myself that I would not be going because of the boys but I wanted to go so badly. We were running late and snuck in (really not sneaking with four kids so I use this word loosely) when the lights were out. After the play-which was pretty fabulous and I have to say our UHBC folks did a GREAT job-I sat in the back with the girls ran like maniacs thru the church making my blood pressure go up because...you just don't run in church..period. (that was how I was raised anyway). Mike was helping taking the props down so I was kinda stuck in the back and everyone came to see the boys. I was surprisingly calm through the whole thing. Then we went out to eat with some church folks and that is where my paranoia came into play. I was seriously stressing on the way there. I didn't want to go, I didn't want the boys in Logans because it is so small in there I knew this wouldn't work...but we managed thanks to our friends. I even let the boys be passed around. And the weight was lifted because I knew these folks would not hurt my babies. Sunday came and I almost backed out of going and again, we were running late (um not this grown ups fault!) and we made it to Sunday School. Again, I let go of my control freakiness and basically dumped Lucas on Wendy. I did really well up until we made it into big church and I stressed when we moved up a pew. When we were in our first spot I was ok because I knew the people behind me, when we moved up I panicked. I didn't know these people, they were breathing down on my babies and how dare they sing and therefore spread their germs into the air. I was feeling very claustrophobic. But I guess I did better than I thought I would. Today we went to the hospital for their hip ultrasounds. Lucas still has to wear his but Easton is free. There were so many people trying to look at them and breathe on them that I covered them up. And again I heard "these must not be your first because you are surprisingly calm". Calm? Really? Nah-just tired from lack of sleep last night. Hopefully, I will get better as we go along. I hate to be rude to strangers when they want to look at them but I find it rude you are breathing over a baby!
