When the boys were in the hospital they were on a schedule. I have to say it was the only good thing to come out of their stay. They were fed every three hours and one was about an hour behind the other-Lucas usually eating first unless a nurse got confused and Easton charmed her into getting his bottle early. I wasn't crazy about them eating an hour apart but figured when they came home we would get into our own routine and adapt. I was right and we did. We had a good thing going until last Monday when the boys turned 3 mths old. It seems they have decided to throw their schedule out the window and to wear me out. Our schedule lately hasn't been much of one. They wake up, are social for about 30 mins and then start demanding food. They take their bottles, socialize for another 30 mins or so and then start getting heavy eyes. And then it begins. I get one down and the other wakes up within minutes. Finally everyone is out and then the nap wears off and we are back awake. (the nap lasts about an hour). Then they start "snacking". They take just enough to hit their belly and then they are back asleep. They sleep until this wears off and then they are awake-alternating. I swear I am always feeding someone or putting them to sleep because somewhere in there I have to fix the girls lunch and by dinner time, I am frazzled. Dinner will be whatever it ends up being. I am so thankful to the inventor of the crock pot. Because of he/she we have had really good meals this week with very little thought or effort from me.
It took me a week to pay bills...I have that task in front of me this week too. My house is a DISASTER but I have decided I can't do it all in one day so there is no need to try. I have also decided that the time has come to make a list the night before of what I want to accomplish the next day. I hate lists....except when we are going on a trip and then I make my lists the week before. But I hate lists for everyday things...grocery lists included. Lists stress me out. They make me feel overwhelmed with everything that must be accomplished because I know it won't happen. So I am going to start small. Today's mental list: put everyone's clothes in their rightful place and clean the girls room. So far, the first has been checked off-sort of. The kids clothes are put away but I still have a pile of clothes on my bed that belong to me and Mike. Tomorrow, I will tackle a new room. I hate doing one room at a time because by the time I get to the last one the first one is just messed up again. But in an effort to retain some portion of my sanity...one room at a time will be my theme this week. I am hoping once I get everything cleaned up that it will not be so difficult next time. The girls only want to help on things that I usually don't let them help on-laundry, dishes, dusting, etc. I may have to let go of my control issues here and just let them do it. If I supervise laundry then maybe we won't have to replace as much when things get ruined. Aiden has figured out that Evan will pick up everything when I tell them to in an effort to keep from getting it thrown away. Leaving Aiden with nothing to do. The little stinker.
